How Our Interest Began
My Interest in the Bernedoodle breed began as my husband and I started searching for the perfect breed and companion for families. Over the years, we have owned several different breeds, including a Golden Retriever, Poodle, Yorkie, Bernese Mountain Dog, Labrador Retriever, and a few mutts. We were finally sick of cleaning up dog hair!
Launching Happily Ever After Doodles
I wanted something intelligent, trainable and lovable without the shedding. That’s when we launched Happily Ever After Doodles in 2019, starting with Pebbles, our Goldendoodle. I love Goldendoodles, but as I started to research the calmest breeds, I saw that Bernese Mountain Dogs were one of the top 5 breeds that are calm in nature. So I said, “Why not mix it with a Poodle and create Bernedoodles?” Crossing the Poodle and the Bernedoodle has been proven to increase the dog’s life span and improve the health of both breeds. So the Bernedoodle was the obvious choice for us and other families looking for companions or even therapy dogs.
Discovering the Perfect Colors
I began delving deep into research mode and I was completely astounded by the sheer variety of colors that miniature poodles come in. Very few breeds have the diversity in color that Poodles exhibit. I knew early on that I wanted something different, so we chose to acquire a Tri-Merle poodle with blue eyes. The rest is really history!
